ThermoFlow® - Johns Manville’s New Generation of Densified Chopped Strands

Denver/Bad Homburg, (September 14, 2004) ---- Johns Manville launched the new product at the JEC 2004 in Paris. ThermoFlow®, a new generation of densified chopped strands for thermoplastic compounds, has superior processing properties for extrusion applications combined with excellent mechanical and matrix bonding properties. ThermoFlow® will be available in 4mm fiber lengths for a wide range of thermoplastics such as PA, PP, PBT, SMA and other compounds. Applications include automotive, electrical and consumer goods. Reduced fines, lower bulk density and more uniform bundle size and shape are the most important product attributes. The superior flow properties of chopped strands result in higher productivity with less machine downtime. Additionally, customers benefit from more consistent glass content in the finished goods. "Over the past year, our ThermoFlow® products have been successfully introduced in North America, helping our customers reach a new level of performance. Our next step is to incorporate the technology at our Trnava, Slovakia facility by October 2004", said Karin Demez, Global Products Manager and Account Manager for Thermoplastics.
