Schneider Electric Updates Powerful All-In-One Unity PRO(TM) PLC Programming Software
PALATINE, Ill. - Sept. 17, 2004 -Schneider Electric has introduced version 2.0 of Telemecanique® Unity Pro, its versatile IEC 61131-2 PLC programming, debugging and operating software for Modicon® programmable logic controllers. In addition to enabling Unity Pro software to program a wide range of Modicon PLCs down to the micro level, a variety of ergonomic improvements have been made to the Unity platform to reduce design development times.
These enhancements include reduced file sizes for faster processing, new hot-standby capabilities, a built-in interactive operator screen to streamline maintenance, a full-function simulator to enable bench-testing of applications and user-defined function blocks to simplify programming. Other features include user-definable Ethernet protocols that allow direct connection to RFID tag stations, bar code readers and competitive PLCs, making it unnecessary to add gateways, as well as user-installable memory which allows for easy expansion and quick maintenance swapouts.
Now available in multi-seat licenses that enable as few as three or as many as 100 users to collaborate in control system design, operation and maintenance, Unity Pro 2.0 software facilitates integration across disciplines, enabling individuals and teams to share ideas and information visually. Optimized use of screen space, direct access to tools and information and the software's customizable working environment promote fast learning.
A functional view of programs allows a user to organize all related resources - PLC program, drawings, manuals, operator interface programs and third-party programs-in one location for each function through hyperlinks. Functional import and export capabilities eliminate programming errors when duplicating program sections or moving a section to another application.
Along with enhancements to Unity Pro software, Schneider Electric has also introduced new Modicon Premium(TM) 100 and 00 level processors that extend the power of Unity Pro programming to micro-level PLC applications; new Premium models with built-in Ethernet, CANOpen or FIPIO interfaces that reduce hardware costs; and new auto-configurable Modicon Quantum® Hot Standby processors with exceptional switchover time and memory.
