Light Grid Sensors offer 5 beam spacing options.
September 17, 2004 - Series MLG and ELG have more than 20 detection heights and 10 different output configurations. Standard models perform like through-beam sensors and provide output if any beams are interrupted, while programmable models feature ability to detect, interpret, and give outputs based on which beams are interrupted and which are not. Applications include product profiling, part counting, and loop control, as well as entry/exit control and hole and tear detection.

SICK Introduces the Versatile MLG and ELG Light Grid Sensors
Minneapolis, Minn. September 9, 2004 - SICK, one of the worlds leading manufacturers of sensors, safety systems and automatic identification products for industrial applications, today announced the MLG and ELG lines of light grid sensors. The MLG and ELG have five different beam spacing options, more than 20 detection heights and 10 different output configurations. The versatile MLG and ELG can be used for material handling on conveyors, AS/RS applications, order fulfillment, and in many other applications and markets.
The SICK MLG and ELG light grids come in standard and programmable models. The standard models perform like a typical through beam sensor and provide an output if any of the beams are interrupted. The programmable models are extremely flexible in application due to their ability to detect, interpret, and give outputs based on which beams are interrupted and which are not.
With a variety of available options, this series of non-safety light grids can be used in numerous applications such as:
Product Profiling Detects package dimension and over-height/over-width to be certain the item will fit in its designated location without damage.
Part Counting Verifies molded or stamped part ejection to ensure the tool is cleared for the next operation, resulting in less tool damage and downtime.
Loop Control Measures continuous web loop size for proper tension feedback creating optimum efficiency.
Pick/Place to Light Verifies that an object was picked from or placed in the appropriate location to ensure proper order fulfillment.
Entry and Exit Control Detects and counts the number of times people or objects pass through a gate or door.
Hole and Tear Detection Immediately detects any rips, tears and holes in a surface, providing increased quality control.
