Toroidal Roller Bearings suit industrial fan applications.

September 17, 2004 - CARB® bearings perform as non-locating bearings in self-aligning bearing systems for industrial fans. Compact, radial roller bearings compensate internally for angular misalignment and accommodate axial shaft expansion. Raceway profiles result in minimized frictional running and reduced operating temperatures. Used with same standard housings and accessories as other self-aligning bearings, products are available with seals and with optional cages.

CARB® Toroidal Roller Bearings Ideal for Industrial Fan Applications

CARB® toroidal roller bearings introduced by SKF perform ideally as non-locating bearings in self-aligning bearing systems for industrial fans. These compact radial roller bearings enhance fan reliability, productivity, and life by offering solutions to problems associated with traditional floating bearing arrangements.

CARB bearings do not require housing-design compromises necessary with conventional non-locating self-aligning bearings. CARB bearings compensate internally for angular misalignment and accommodate axial shaft expansion, eliminating a need for outer ring loose fits or axial slide housings. This provides a quieter, cooler-running arrangement less-sensitive to high-temperature shaft expansions and flatness of mounting surfaces. Raceway profiles enable favorable load distribution, low frictional running, and lower operating temperatures for optimized bearing service life and fewer warranty concerns.

Other benefits from CARB bearings include improved lubrication conditions, extended relubrication intervals, and improved grease life. Minimal maintenance is required.

CARB bearings can be used with the same standard housings and accessories as other self-aligning bearings. Tight fits in housings can be achieved to eliminate wear and reduce vibration levels. When required by an application, standard housings can be supplied with non-standard bore tolerances for even tighter fits.

CARB bearings are offered in a wide range of sizes and are available with seals and with optional cages. Custom designs can be developed. Applications broaden to include gearboxes and electric motors, among others where non-locating bearings must be specified.
