September 14, 2004 - When expanded to maximum, SINUMERIK 840D NCU 573.5 provides 31 axes/spindles and 10 channels/10 modes. It offers range of specialized functions for milling, drilling, turning, grinding, and handling technologies. Capabilities also include nibbling, punching, and laser-machining. When used with integrated PLC 317-2DP, unit provides approximately 160% higher numerical control performance and 300% PLC performance over previous versions.

Siemens Releases the New Sinumerik 840D Computer Numerical Control


CHICAGO, IMTS, September 8, 2004 - Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc. has unveiled the new SINUMERIK 840D NCU 573.5 for increased performance and user productivity.

When used with the integrated PLC 317-2DP, this new NCU provides users with approximately 160% higher numerical control performance and 300% PLC performance over previous versions as well as more CNC user memory. The NCU system software can run on the NCU 573.5 when run from software release version 6.5 or higher. When expanded to the maximum, the NCU 573.5 has 31 axes/spindles and 10 channels/10 mode groups.

The SINUMERIK 840D is a sophisticated CNC system that offers a wide range of specialized functions for milling, drilling, turning, grinding and handling technologies. Its capabilities also include nibbling, punching and laser-machining technologies. The SINUMERIK 840D also offers users innovative features that increase productivity on the manufacturing floor, especially the challenging segments of high-speed and 5-axis machining.
