Tyco Fire & Building Products MCC AquaMist® Delivery System Provides Complete Solutions for Hazard Fire Protection

Lansdale, Penn.-September 2, 2004-Tyco Fire & Building Products, a business unit of Tyco Engineered Products & Services, recently announced the introduction of its MCC (Mist Control Center) AquaMist Delivery System to the fire protection market.

The MCC AquaMist Delivery System is a completely pre-piped and pre-wired pump skid assembly that includes the pump, controller, control valves, deluge valve, control panel, and system strainer, yet is compact enough to fit through a standard doorway. This complete and compact construction makes specification and installation easy by combining Tyco’s Listed and Approved products in one package that installs in a single step.

At the center of the MCC AquaMist Delivery System is Tyco’s patented AquaMist® fire protection system. Designed as an alternative to gaseous, foam, and heavy density sprinkler systems, the AquaMist system uses unique, specially designed mist application nozzles that produce reduced droplet sizes in the discharge pattern. In a fire condition, the fine mist is transformed to steam, expanding each water droplet by over 1600 times its initial volume and displacing oxygen. The mist also effectively cools the surroundings and wets the fuel source. These characteristics of the AquaMist systems make them an ideal choice for the protection of flammable liquid storage and processing operations. AquaMist nozzles are also Listed and Approved for the protection of turbine bearings. The AquaMist nozzles use only a small fraction of the traditional sprinkler water demand and are designed for extinguishment as opposed to control-mode sprinklers.

“The MCC units were designed to eliminate the guesswork for the installation of the AquaMist systems,” says Jim Brunetti, product manager, Tyco Fire & Building Products. “The entire AquaMist system represents the newest and most exciting technology in fire protection. The addition of the MCC units makes the entire system even more installer and user friendly.”

The MCC AquaMist® Delivery System is available in two sizes: the MCC-1 which provides four to 60 GPM (gallons per minute); and the MCC-2, providing 60 to 120 GPM, and sized to accommodate a maximum of 36 to 40 AquaMist nozzles, and features a pump maximum rated pressure of 250 psi. Both sizes feature all the necessary electrical connections for the pump and control panel.
