New Bar Code Scanner from SICK Identifies Long Bar Code Labels at Short Reading Distances

Small scanner offers high read rate and scanning frequency up to 1000 Hz

Minneapolis, Minn. August 31, 2004 - SICK, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of sensors, safety systems and automatic identification products for industrial applications, today announced the launch of the CLV 405 – a new family of Bar Code Scanners from SICK. The CLV 405 augments the company’s existing line of bar code products. These innovative new scanners are extremely cost-effective, user-friendly, and packed with unique features.

The CLV 405 is an extremely small scanner with really big performance. At only 1.75 in. x 1.17 in. x .85 in., this scanner will fit any application. In addition to the small footprint, the CLV 405 has robust technical specifications. With a scan rate of 300 to 1000 Hz and a reading range of 2 in. to 10 in., the CLV 405 from SICK is the most powerful scanner of its size.

The CLV 405 can be used in a variety of applications such as Robotics, Clinical Analyzers, Electronics – PCB Identification, Document Handling, and Read after Print in packaging.

The CLV 405 is available in low and high density versions, line and raster versions, as well as with straight and side emitting windows. It has many user-friendly features that make setup and troubleshooting easy. The scanner comes with an LED to indicate how well the scanner is reading a code, an Auto Setup function that can be started at the touch of a button, and a visibly limiting scan line. All these features are designed to make the CLV 405 from SICK one of the most intuitive scanners on the market.

The CLV 405 utilizes standard SICK CLV Setup Software for configuration – the same software as all other SICK CLV scanners. There is also a special CDB (Connection Device Basic) designed for use with the CLV 405, enabling quick and straightforward installation.
