APT Europe Expands its Product Line of Boost and Buck Chopper Circuits in SOT-227 Package

Bordeaux, France….. Advanced Power Technology Europe, a leader in power module technology is pleased to announce the expansion of its current family of boost and buck chopper circuits using MOSFETs in plastic SOT-227 packages to include COOLMOS™ and IGBT transistors. This complete lineup of advanced technology high voltage transistors combined with state-of-the-art fast recovery diodes offer solutions to a wide variety of applications requiring high current and efficiency with high switching frequency up to 200 kHz. Transistor options include APT POWER MOS 7® and APT POWER MOS V ® MOSFETs, Trench, NPT, and PT IGBTs, and COOLMOS™ MOSFETs. The SOT-227 isolated package provides 2500V isolation with screw on terminals allowing ease of assembly onto a PC Board and the heatsink.

Key Features

• High switching speed up to 200 kHz

• Space and cost saving – a single SOT-227 can replace 2 TO-247 packages

• Isolated package – easy mounting.

Applications

- Power Factor Correction (PFC) converters used for single phase AC to DC converter in SMPS (Boost devices)

- DC motor control (Boost and Buck devices)

- Reluctance motor drives (combination of Buck and Boost devices)

- Brake switch in motor drives (Boost devices)

- DC to DC converters using asymmetrical bridges (Boost and Buck devices)

Data sheets are available to assist the designer, describing the features and benefits of these new “Combi” devices in greater detail. These may be downloaded from APT’s website at http://advancedpower.com or obtained from the factory.

Availability and Pricing

Samples are available now. Lead times for up to 10K quantities 8-12 weeks. Pricing for 100 pieces ranges from $14.00 to $24.00.

With Operations in Bend, Oregon, Santa Clara, California, Montgomeryville, Pennsylvania and Bordeaux France, APT is a leading supplier of power semiconductors for RF, Microwave, Linear, and Switchmode Applications.
