OSRAM SYLVANIA Introduces the Quicktronic T8 High Efficiency System - Today's Advanced, Energy Saving Replacement for Standard Electronic Ballasts

DANVERS, Mass., August 6, 2004 -- OSRAM SYLVANIA introduces their QUICKTRONIC® High Efficiency Series of energy-saving electronic T8 instant start ballasts that use up to six percent (2 to 7-watts) less energy than standard electronic ballasts without compromising light output or lamp life. QUICKTRONIC® High Efficiency ballasts will operate 17-watt (2 foot), 25-watt (3-foot), and 4-foot 28-watt, 30-watt SUPERSAVER®, or 32-watt T8 fluorescent lamps.

QUICKTRONIC High Efficiency Series (QHE) ballasts also feature <10%THD and Universal Voltage. SYLVANIA QHE ballasts operate OCTRON® T8 lamps with maximum efficacy and high lumen output, and provide 30-50 percent energy savings when compared to T12 standard magnetic systems. Whether for retrofits or new construction, QHE ballasts are the energy saving choice for business.

"The QUICKTRONIC High Efficiency system is ideal for any applications where the lowest power T8 systems are needed for maximum energy savings, " says Jim LaPointe, Product Group Marketing Manager for SYLVANIA Electronic Control Systems. "Another benefit is that the system operates from 120 volts through 277 volts, eliminating 'wrong voltage' wiring errors and reducing the number of models needed in your inventory by half."

QHE ballasts are available in both normal and low ballast factor models. These ballasts feature parallel lamp operation, providing independent lamp operation, with the same wiring and footprint as traditional electronic ballasts.

QHE systems are covered by the SYLVANIA QUICK 60+® warranty, the first and most comprehensive lamp and ballast system warranty in the industry, when paired with SYLVANIA OCTRON, OCTRON XP™ and OCTRON SUPERSAVER lamps. The QHE systems also meet the most demanding utility rebate standards.
