Kaydon Introduces First Miniature Turntable Bearings

MUSKEGON, MICH. ...AUGUST 10, 2004... A line of new, unique miniature thin-section turntable bearings - Reali-Slim® TT Series - has been developed and introduced by Kaydon Bearings Division. The bearings save weight, reduce product design envelope sizes and increase design flexibility for such turntable applications as robotics, radar antennae, and factory positioning and inspection tables.

Designed by Kaydon engineers to be the next generation of turntable bearings, the Reali-Slim® TT Series offers significant advantages vs. conventional turntable bearings, including:
o smaller size (smallest bore size is 1.5 inches, the largest is 6.0 inches, and the height is only .25 inches);
o greater accuracy - the extended radial bearing section increases rigidity, and optional preload or clearances meet application torque or deflection requirements;
o easier to use - fast installation and change-out;
o custom configurations are available; and
o withstands harsh operating environments - AISI-440C steel races, steel reinforced seals.

The bearings are a proven, single 4-point contact ball radial design, consisting of a single row of balls with a unique "gothic arch" raceway and one-piece separators for low frictional torque. Radial, axial and moment-load capable, the bearings are shipped pre-lubricated and ready for use. Installation is fast and easy; the bearing is positioned on the mounting face and tightened down by mounting screws.

Versions are available with optional internal or external spur gear, or in non-geared designs. The geared versions are 64 diametral pitch with 20º pressure angle, AGMA Class 10, and provide low-backlash service.

The bearings are cleaned and packaged in a Class 10,000 clean room, and up to Class 100 clean room standards are also available.

A comprehensive bulletin is available in hard-copy or online, which details part numbers, engineering performance data, and proper sizing and installation information for ungeared, externally geared, and internally geared types.
