Metabo's Improved Angle Grinders Provide 15% More Power; Increased PerformanceWest Chester, PA, July 2004 – Metabo Corporation, a leading international manufacturer of professional grade portable electric power tools and abrasives for industrial, construction and welding applications, has upgraded seven angle grinders that provide up to 15% more power and improved performance. The 4 1/2" and 5” grinders, which now feature an 8 Amp motor versus the older 7 Amp version, are ideal for grinding and cutting various construction metals in many welding and construction applications.
All of the upgraded grinders feature Metabo’s long lasting motor with a special epoxy resin coating on the field coil and a winding protection grid that deflects airborne debris away from the armature windings, increasing motor life up to five times. Metabo’s exclusive S-automatic safety clutch, which protects the tool and user from dangerous kickbacks in the event of a wheel jam, as well as a tool-less guard adjustment are standard on the angle grinders. Five of the upgraded models also feature the “Quick” rapid spannerless tool change system that enables safe, tool-free wheel changes with significantly reduced operator downtime.
The angle grinders that have received the new, more powerful motor include:
W7-115
W7-115 Quick
WP7-115 Quick
WPS7-115 Quick
W7-125
WP7-125 Quick
WPS7-125 Quick
All grinders provide up to 21 inch-lbs. of torque, rated input watts of 900, and a spindle thread of 5/8”-11. No load-speed for the 4 1/2" 115 models is 10,000 RPM, and is 9,000 RPM for the 5” 125 models. Tool weight of all models ranges from 4.8 lbs to 5.1 lbs. Each comes with a side handle, wheel guard, and Metabo’s three-year warranty.
