Stratos Lightwave Announces Rack-Mount Packaging Options for its Tsunamiā„¢ CWDM Components and Modules

CHICAGO, IL--Stratos Lightwave LLC is announcing the availability of rack-mount packaging options for its Tsunamiā„¢ brand of Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM) optical components and modules. Offered for both industry-standard 19-inch as well as LGX®-compatible racks, these packaging options will make it easier for users of high-performance communications systems to integrate CWDM devices into existing installations.

In metro and access optical communication networks, CWDM products are often deployed along side of conventional optical transceivers, such as GBICs or SFPs, to increase the bandwidth of existing cable infrastructures. The extremely small size of CWDM components has typically required users to configure and assemble for themselves, the necessary hardware to mount these compact sub-systems into the standard racks. Stratos is now eliminating this issue with its new packaging options.

Stratos’ Tsunamiā„¢ CWDM muxes, demuxes, and OADMs can now be optioned for either 19-inch or LGX-compatible racks, including Tsunami MetroChannelā„¢ and MiniMetroā„¢ modules. The 19-inch packaging option is available in a unique ½-RU size, which offers twice the density of the standard 1-RU box. Both the 19-inch and LGX packaging options are available with industry-standard SC or LC fiber optic connectors and provide very low link loss. Other connector types are available upon special request.

Pricing for the new Tsunami packaging options vary according to the type of rack, number of optical channels and quantity purchased. Approximate price is $125 - $165 per port. Availability ranges from ā€œin stockā€ to 5 weeks.
