A New Degree of Safety is Reached with the New Cerabar S / Deltabar S Transmitters

June 29, 2004, Greenwood, Indiana - Endress+Hauser announces the new Cerabar S / Deltabar S pressure transmitters. The new Cerabar S is a family of gauge and absolute pressure transmitters. The Deltabar S is a family of differential pressure sensors for flow, level and differential measurement. These new pressure devices offer the first industrially used ceramic cell, the first self-monitoring differential pressure transmitter, and the introduction of the modular concept for pressure and differential pressure transmitters as seen in previous generations of Endress+Hauser's transmitters. These three unique innovations combined, create smart pressure transmitters that are easy to operate and that maintain control in extremely high temperatures.

A new degree of safety is reached with the introduction of the new Cerabar S / Deltabar S. These new pressure transmitters feature a unique data module, HistoROMŽ / M-DAT, which allows for the back up of measured values (every 20 seconds with an average stored every 15 minutes). This enables easy and safe duplication of adjustments to be made indicating easy replacements and duplicate measuring points without the use of any outside tools such as configuration software. A secondary containment feature creates enhanced mechanical integrity and protects the user, the environment, and the transmitter. The ceramic gauge/absolute measuring cell, CeraphireŽ (CERAmic + sapPHIRE), is unique to the market consisting of 99.9% pure A1203- It is the most resistant ceramic cell for all media occurring in the process industry today. CeraphireŽ is self-cleaning and extremely reliable in aggressive process conditions. Also, the new Cerabar S / Deltabar S was developed according to IEC6 1508 SIL (Safety Integrity Level), which helps avoid systematic failures in the development process.

In addition to the safety focus, the Cerabar S / Deltabar S transmitters allow for easy operation featuring the ability to perform a complete configuration using a local interface at the transmitter, which is unique to the market. The new transmitter includes a quick setup, which is menu-guided and enables easy, safe commissioning. The large, four-line graphic display provides a clear picture reducing any possible confusion. The three button concept eliminates the opening of compartments or commissioning with special tools and enables virtually any user to easily use the product. The modular design concept features a replaceable display, terminal board, electronics, and sensor modules, therefore reducing the cost of stocking spare parts and repair. The risk of faulty configuration is reduced with the transmitter's three application modes including flow, level, and pressure.

The Cerabar S / Deltabar S can accommodate extreme heat with a metal membrane that can work effectively up to 355°F (180°C) without a diaphragm seal. The ceramic seal can work up to a 300°F (150°C) atmosphere, which is unique to the market. Also diaphragm seals up to 662°F.
