Sensidyne Announces New Two-Channel Controller for Fixed Gas Detection Systems
Clearwater, FL, July 7, 2004 --- Sensidyne, Inc. has just introduced a low cost Model 9000 Controller, for smaller, 2-point fixed gas detection systems. It is designed for use with any of Sensidyne's wide variety of toxic and combustible gas sensors, as well as Sensidyne's infrared and universal transmitters. The new controller features a large graphic display, configurable alarm delay, 4-20 mA ouput, password protection, and key CE Mark and CSA approvals.
The backlit LCD display of the Model 9000 Controller is unusually large and easy to read, using bar graphs for each sensor channel to show the current gas level reading along with both high and low alarm set points. Each channel also has three LED lights to indicate both low and high alarm status and system or equipment fault. The system allows three discrete alarm relays per channel, as well as two common alarm relays. External strobe lights and buzzers are optionally available to provide visual and audible warnings of alarm conditions, either remotely or locally. Access to alarm settings can be restricted by use of a four-digit passcode.
A feature unique in its class is that this Controller offers the versatility of user-configerable alarm relays: normally open; normally close; latching; or non-latching. It can also be configured for "on" delays up to 10 seconds, to avoid nuisance alarms from intermittent conditions, as well as for "off" delays up to 120 minutes. Standard input and output is 4-20 mA, to facilitate computer monitoring, use of recorders, and the like.
The Controller carries both CE Mark and CSA approvals (Class 1, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, D, as well as C22.2 No. 152 Performance Test). It comes in a highly compact NEMA 4X wall mount enclosure, measuring just 9.3 by 8.92 by 3.2 inches (23.6 x 22.7 x 8.1 centimeters) and requires 100-240 volt AC or 24 volt DC power.
According to Glenn Warr, Sensidyne Vice President for Sales and Business Development, the new two-channel Controller is ideally suited for detection of hazardous gases in smaller confined areas, such as gas cylinder storage rooms, garages, bottling operations, instrument shelters, engine rooms, wet wells, and the like.
The Model 9000 Controller is described in a new Sensidyne brochure, along with available transmitters and sensors.
