PFU Systems™ Demonstrates 1.8 GHz System-on-Module with Intel® Pentium® M Processor 745 in VoIP Solutions

Plug-N-Run™ G3 ultra-compact System-on-Module building blocks provide convergence network solutions equipment providers with high integration and quick time-to-market

SuperComm 2004, Chicago, IL - June 20, 2004 - PFU Systems, Inc., manufacturer of System-on-Modules (Computer-on-Modules) for embedded solutions, demonstrates its 1.8 GHz Plug-N-Run G3 modules with new Intel® Pentium® M processor 745 in VoIP convergence network applications. High integer and floating point performance and ultra-compact footprint make it possible to implement a VoIP PBX Host Media Processing (HMP) server in a volume slightly larger than a 3.5" hard disk drive, or to combine several modules in a "shoe-box" for management, call processing and N+p redundancy. High integration significantly reduces time-to-market, while true scalability allows tailoring to customer needs. With specifications that exceed NEBS requirements, the Plug-N-Run G3 is an excellent choice for mission critical VoIP applications.

"The 1.8 GHz Plug-N-Run G3 provides exceptional performance in a compact footprint at 6 Watt average power dissipation," said Kishan Jainandunsing, vice president marketing of PFU Systems, Inc. "The 2MB large L2 cache in combination with up to 1GB of PC2700 ECC memory is useful in handling large call volumes. The compact footprint not only makes it possible to integrate in a single and compact enclosure the multiple PCs required today for robust VoIP solutions, but it also opens up a market for portable solutions and solutions that easily fit in a riser cabinet."

Main Features

These include the Intel® Pentium® M processor 745 at 1.8 GHz and Intel® 855GME chipset, expansion up to 1GB of PC2700 ECC memory, PCI bus, USB 2.0, ATA100 IDE, LPC bus, SMBus, serial ports, GPIO, VGA and LVDS, 50G and 2.2G shock and vibration, respectively, BIOS, a 160mm x 100mm x 13.5mm (6.3" x 3.9" x 0.5") footprint and popular RTOS, Linux®, Microsoft® Windows® 2000 and XP compatibility.

Pricing and Availability

The 1.8 GHz Plug-N-Run G3 modules will start shipping in July in sample quantities with full production expected in August of this year. Pricing is available on request. Application specific carrier boards are available for quick prototyping, including a development board.
