New Miniature Photoelectric Sensors Easily Field-adjusted to Meet Specific Application Needs

TWINSBURG, OH – Pepperl+Fuchs introduces ML5 series miniature photoelectric sensors. ML5 sensors have a sensitivity adjustment potentiometer to customize excess gain and beam characteristics to suit specific application needs. Technology advances also allow the ML5 series to be manufactured at up to a 33% lower cost than previous units with similar capabilities.

ML5 sensors operate in diffused mode, retro-reflective mode, polarized retro-reflective and thru-beam modes. Diffused mode offers 1.0 millisecond response time and an adjustable 400 mm sensing range. Retro-reflective mode operates at an increased sensing range of 2 meters, while polarized retro-reflective mode reliably detects shiny objects and offers a red light source for visual adjustments. Thru-beam mode provides a wide operating angle for easy alignment and a 5 meter sensing range, along with quick disconnect or cabled versions.

Features common to all ML5 modes include:

• Miniature housing with dimensions of 26 mm x12 mm x24 mm

• NPN and PNP outputs

• A switch allowing “Light ON” or “Dark ON” operations

• Self-contained operations with no requirement for an amplifier or controller
