Mobile DC Motors suit battery-powered HVAC applications.

April 27, 2004 - PJ and PS series 3 in. dia brush DC motors utilize brush card assembly that improves brush heat dissipation and reduces audible brush noise. They integrate electric noise reduction circuitry and circuit breaker directly within motor housing. PJ design is tube-shell motor with cast end bells, while PS version employs stamped-steel shell. Options include RFI/EMI suppression device that reduces DC motor radiated emissions by up to 30 dB.

Improved Mobile HVAC DC Motor

Motor Products Corp. Delivers More Reliable and Cost-Effective 3-Inch DC Motor for Mobile, Battery-Powered HVAC Applications

Owosso, MI USA – April, 2004 – Motor Products Corporation (MPC), an Allied Motion Technologies company, announces the immediate availability of its improved PJ and PS series of 3-inch diameter brush DC motors. These motors are drop-in replacements for MPC’s current PH and PF series motors, although those models will still be available to current customers.

The PJ design is a tube-shell motor with cast end bells, while the PS version employs a stamped-steel shell. These motors are designed specifically for the requirements of mobile air-moving applications such as HVAC systems used in trucks, buses, RVs/motor homes, boats, and off-road vehicles.

The improved motors have been reengineered to include a new simplified brush card assembly that is more robust yet more cost-effective than the current assembly. The new design also improves brush heat dissipation for increased life and reduces audible brush noise. In addition, the new brush assembly is more compact, allowing both electric noise reduction circuitry and a circuit breaker to be integrated directly within the motor housing without increasing the housing’s size. Among available options is a patented RFI/EMI suppression device that has been shown to reduce DC motor radiated emissions by up to 30dB over discrete component solutions.
