Iveco Motors Introduces Acclaimed NEF Power Units to North American OEM's

CAROL STREAM, IL (March, 2004)—Iveco Motors of North America, Inc., a subsidiary of Iveco Motors, a leading world-class diesel engine manufacturer, is proud to unveil their NEF Power Units to the OEM market. Iveco Motors NEF Power Units offer a complete, ready-to-use package, which include: a base engine, cooling package and an air filter that can be specified for stationary and mobile applications.

“The NEF Power Units are the preferred solution for OEM’s that don’t have high production volume or purchasing volume,” said Vincenzo Perrone, General Manager, Iveco Motors of North America. “OEMs and customers alike will really enjoy working with our new units because of their ‘plug and play’ capacity, as well as their low maintenance requirements.”

NEF Power Units provide OEMs a great self-contained engine solution. They are compact in design and “drop” right in and bring life to an application. The units arrive pre-engineered and warranted by Iveco Motors. Compared to models from an older family, the new units have forty percent less components. Additional components can be added, including puller or pusher fans, balancers, air and fuel heaters, 12 or 24 V, engine mounts and oil pans.

The units are available in naturally aspirated, turbocharged and charge-air cooled versions, with a power range of 80hp to 227hp. Fitted with mechanical and electronic fuel injection systems, the NEF Power Units meet EPA Tier 2 and EC 97/68 Stage 2 requirements and are EPA Tier 3 capable. An electronic control provides less fuel consumption (as low as 0.337 lb/hp*hr), on-board diagnostics, improved performance and lower noise levels. A rear gear drive design enables the noise levels to stay below 91 dBA and improves the cooling performance. The units require little maintenance, with lubrication oil and filters needing replacement only every 600 hours.

Iveco Motors handles custom configurations, making engines extremely versatile to fulfill any power need. The engines are constructed with either traditional or structural engine blocks for load-bearing purposes. Some of the custom design solutions created by Iveco Motors include: two and four valves per cylinder, mechanical and electronic injection systems, coupling flywheel housings for different types of drivelines, oil sump configuration, intake and exhaust manifolds, fan axis position, cooling fans, and varied positions of oil and fuel filters.

Iveco Motors engines are the result of over 100 years of engine-making experience, and offer the widest availability of customized engine build options. Headquartered in Torino, Italy, Iveco Motors is recognized as a worldwide leader in power train systems. With production of almost 400,000 engines in 2003, the company has nine plants and three research facilities dedicated to engines, located throughout Italy, France, South America and Asia.

In order to respond to the demands of the North American marketplace, Iveco Motors recently began operations in Carol Stream, Illinois, to deliver first class service throughout Canada and the United States. Iveco Motors of North America, Inc. is a U.S. corporation fully owned by Iveco S.p.A, which is part of the Fiat group. Fiat S.p.A. shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol FIA.

The newly opened Iveco Motors of North America offers complete product support and customer service. For more information please call (630) 260-4226 or visit www.ivecomotors.com.
