Bostik Findley Introduces Liquid Rivet 1152 FS High Performance Adhesive/Sealant

New Polyurethane Offers Excellent High Strength Elastic Bonding
For Transportation Industry Applications

MIDDLETON, Mass., Mar. 31, 2004 -- Bostik Findley, Inc., a leading global manufacturer of adhesives, sealants, and lubricants, recently launched Bostik® Liquid Rivet 1152 FS adhesive/sealant: a significant advancement in one-component, urethane technology that offers extremely high thixotropy and strength.

Bostik® Liquid Rivet 1152 FS is a high solids, moisture-curing formulation with very high green strength and initial tack, providing excellent high strength elastic bonding performance. It can eliminate the need for most, if not all, mechanical fasteners when applied to proper engineering guidelines, as well as improve vibration attenuation and sound dampening.

Bostik Liquid Rivet has minimal VOC (volatile organic compound) (<30 g/l) and low HAP (hazardous air pollutants) (< 6 g/l) content and is compliant with both CARB and SCAQMD California air quality emissions standards.

It is recommended for overhead and vertical bonding, panel holding or to reduce clamping time typically required of a traditional adhesive/sealant. Liquid Rivet can be used for fabricating and assembling transportation and transit vehicles. It is also ideal for the construction of truck trailers and containers, recreational vehicles (RV's) and light-rail cars, as well as for van conversion.

Bostik Liquid Rivet 1152 FS is available in 10.3-oz. cartridges. Typical uses include bonding plywood and composite floors to sub-floors and metallic/non-metallic vehicle frames. It is particularly suited for bonding painted aluminum, stainless or FRP exterior side panels to corner posts or tubular frames as well as for bonding composite roof panels to metallic or aluminum roof bows and bonding sandwich panels and walls.

Bostik Liquid Rivet features no slump/non-sag properties and forms a bond that meets the transportation industry’s demands for elasticity, torsion stiffness and exceptional adhesion to dissimilar materials. Liquid Rivet is tack free in 30 to 45 minutes and fully cures in 24 hours. Other typical physical properties include 300 psi tensile strength, 55 Shore A hardness value and temperature resistance from –40° to 190° F.

Bostik Findley, Inc. is a unit of Total SA, a $93-billion multinational company with extensive worldwide interests in oil exploration, petroleum refining and the formulation of specialty chemicals. Bostik Findley is among the world's leading adhesives and sealants manufacturers with production facilities and sales operations in 36 nations across five continents. Bostik Findley produces and supplies customized adhesives, sealants and coatings for automotive and aircraft interiors, MRO applications, the marine and transportation markets, industrial and product manufacturing, packaging, disposable nonwovens, residential and commercial building projects as well as comprehensive products for the tile and flooring industry.
