Square D® Services Extends Arc Flash Training SessionsPALATINE, Ill. – April 1, 2004 – Square D® Services is repeating a popular circuit of training sessions as part of a nationwide effort to increase understanding of workplace electrical safety practices. The one-day Safe Employee Workplace training course will be held at several regional locations.
The course is intended for individuals – such as qualified plant personnel who maintain and operate low voltage and medium voltage electrical equipment – who face a risk of electrical hazard and need to understand the hazard present in electrical equipment. The course is also designed for those who need questions about the direction of current safety programs and how to incorporate the new requirements into their workplace.
After completing the course, participants should be able to:
· Identify electrical hazards
· Classify electrical hazards and apply techniques and procedures for safe work practices
· Identify techniques to create a workplace culture where electrical safety is part of the workplace environment.
Each eight-hour session will review NFPA 70E Part 2 (Arc Flash), March 2000 Edition; OSHA 1910.331-335 (shock protection); OSHA 1910.137 (boundary protection); OSHA 1920.269 (proper grounding); hazard prevention; project management; basic overview of proper distribution equipment maintenance; and more.
