Simonds Hole Cutters Deliver Fast, Accurate Cuts in Structural Steel While Extending Tool Life

Fitchburg, MA (March 19, 2004) – A line of hole cutters designed to cut faster and cleaner holes through engineering and structural steels has been introduced by Simonds International. Simonds Hole Cutters are trepanning, or broaching, cutters built to perform a wide variety of cutting applications on the job site or in the shop.

Constructed of M2 high-speed steel, Simonds Hole Cutters are designed for use on magnetic drill bases, drill presses and milling machines in applications ranging from steel erection and fabrication and bridge and highway maintenance to truck and trailer manufacturing and HVAC and elevator repair. Much more efficient than twist drills or spade bits, Simonds Hole Cutters deliver burr-free holes in a single operation without having to drill time-consuming pilot holes or by step drilling.

Simonds Hole Cutters feature a unique geometry for a faster feed, lower cutting resistance, greater accuracy, longer tool life and a better finish. They can be used on curved surfaces and have a fully ground finish. All hole cutters are available in long or short reach in a variety of imperial sizes from 7/16" to 2" and in metric sizes from 12mm to 51mm.

A line of tungsten carbide models is also available for extra tough cutting applications. Made from EN24 hardened steel, Simonds Hole Cutters Tungsten Carbide models have a unique design providing full tooth support to the fine grain carbide inserts and have a generous side clearance. The tungsten carbide models are available in long and short reach sizes from ¾" to 2" and 18-50mm.
