Insulating Cylinder Jacket protects against condensation.
March 25, 2004 - Class 1, Division 2-rated cylinder heating and insulating jacket prevents condensation of hydrocarbon gas mixtures inside cylinders used in low-temperature environments. It maintains cylinder temperature at 120°F in ambient temperatures down to 0°F and features self-limiting heating cable that prevents over-heating and hot spots. Construction includes closed-cell foam insulation, silicone-impregnated fiberglass liner, and polyester exterior jacket.

New Cylinder Heating and Insulating Jacket from Scott Specialty Gases Protects Against Condensation for Improved Calibration Accuracy
February 2004 (Plumsteadville, PA)— Scott Specialty Gases has introduced a Class 1, Division 2-rated cylinder heating and insulating jacket that prevents condensation of hydrocarbon gas mixtures inside a cylinder that is used in a low-temperature environment. Condensation of heavier molecules in hydrocarbon calibration mixtures, as well as in environmental mixtures containing high percentages of CO2, can substantially degrade gas accuracy, thus resulting in inaccurate instrument calibration.
The new cylinder jacket from Scott Specialty Gases maintains cylinder temperature at 120°F (49°C) in ambient temperatures down to 0°F (-18°C) and is ideally suited for hydrocarbon, natural gas, power plant and utility applications. It features a self-limiting heating cable that prevents over-heating and “hot spots” that can cause dangerous cylinder failure. Closed-cell foam insulation, combined with a silicone-impregnated fiberglass liner and polyester exterior jacket provides lasting protection from weather. Velcro/D-ring closures ensure a snug fit around the cylinder.
Scott’s heating and insulating jacket is available in sizes to fit cylinders ranging from 10.5” to 17” in diameter and 45” to 55” in height. Each jacket is supplied with ten feet of color-coded, 3-conductor flexible conduit that is protected from corrosion by a polymer sleeve. A separate regulator cover is optional. All materials of construction are approved by Underwriters Laboratories for Class 1, Division 2, Group B, C and D hazardous locations. The cylinder heating and insulating jacket may be purchased online at scottgas.com or by calling 800-21-SCOTT.
