Audiovox Launches First New Jensen, and Advent Home Audio Products Since Acquisition

Company Plans to Grow Market Position of These Prominent Blue-Chip Brands

Las Vegas NV – January 2004 – Audiovox has chosen the backdrop of the CES show to launch a series of new products from two well-known brands: Jensen and Advent. (See enclosed news release for Acoustic Research.) “We have positioned these lines as a win-win for the retailers and their customers,” said Patrick Lavelle, President and CEO of Audiovox Electronics Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Audiovox Corporation (NASDAQ:VOXX). Our marketing plans include using these three well-known brands to target different segments of the home audio market. We will lead with Jensen as our entry level with HTIB, powered subwoofers, component speakers and indoor/outdoor speakers, which have enjoyed success in the past. The Advent line will be a step-up brand but will still feature a value play.”

The Jensen PowerStation Speakers

Jensen has literally created these speakers from the ground up. They are not for the weak-hearted, reflecting the technology that translates into a speaker system with rock-concert credentials. Lavelle notes that the three models have been designed for people who are dedicated to ‘living their music like they live their lives’ (a former Jensen theme). “These industrial strength speakers, with their carpeted cabinets, reinforced corners and recessed handles with no-grille fronts, dual bass porting and “killer” drivers, have taken all of this technology and recycled it into plaster-cracking sound. They have quickly established themselves as a benchmark in this category. ”

There are three PowerStation Models; JP1200, an 8-inch, 3-way system; JP1300, a 12- inch, 3-way system and JP1500, a 15-inch, 3-way model, ranging in price from $99.95 to $199.95. The JP1200 3-way bass reflex system features a driver array consisting of an 8-inch woofer, 4-inch horn midranges and 2-inch horn tweeters, with power handling of 300 watts. It has a frequency response of 35Hz-25 kHz, sensitivity is 92db and impedance is a nominal 8 ohms. The JP1300 is a 3-way acoustic system with a driver configuration of a 12-inch woofer, 6-inch horn midranges and dual 2-inch horn tweeters. Its frequency response is 30Hz-25kHz, sensitivity is 94 db and impedance is a nominal 8 ohms, with 400-watts power handling. The JP1500 is a 3-way bass reflex system with a driver array consisting of a 15-inch woofer, 4-inch horn midranges, and 2-inch horn tweeters with power handling of 500-watts. Frequency response is 35Hz-25kHz, sensitivity is 95db and impedance is a nominal 8 ohms.

There are also be three powered subs, a 100-watt, 8 inch, a 115-watt, 10-inch and a 130-watt, 12-inch – all RMS rated and selling for from $129.95 to $199.95. All units have Auto-Off sleep mode, LED (on rear panel Stand-By/On), forward firing, black vinyl finish, black mesh cloth grille, at great promotional price points.

Advent Products

Advent has always enjoyed a reputation for innovation and high-performance audio and video products that offer value to the consumer and profit to the dealer. Audiovox will build on this legacy by developing new products with best-ever performance, but priced competitively. They will market Advent products to the mainstream consumer electronics retail community including regional and national chains, buying groups and specialty retailers.

Lavelle believes that with the Jensen and Advent brands, Audiovox has an opportunity to expand its presence in the home audio market with established products that will reinforce consumer confidence. “It will expand the Audiovox presence and increase our customer base as it strengthens the already very strong relationships with the best and biggest accounts in the industry. As we successfully enter into new market areas we become a more valuable resource to our customer base. And that sets the stage for what we believe will be a very solid business,” he concluded.
