New Aluminum Framing System Offers High Strength, Versatile UsageBloomfield, CT March 17, 2004..mk Automation, Inc. announces the new Series 60 aluminum framing system is designed for use in heavy duty machine supports, frame building, linear motion and material handling applications. Series 60 framing system challenges steel usage with its high strength 60 x 60 mm cross section and multiples up to 120 x 240 mm that provide the necessary stability to overcome or counteract the high moments of inertia typical in linear motion and robotic assembly. With increased stiffness, Series 60 framing systems can handle extreme loading, torsion and deflection that now allow the system to replace designs requiring welded box section steel machine frames structures. In addition, Series 60 aluminum helps to eliminate many labor intensive costs common to welded steel construction.
Other features include 14mm T-Slots to permit use of M12 connecting elements to withstand 2.5 times the load of customary M8 screw joints; angle connections with M12 to support a vertical load of 1250 lbs.; use of 6005T6 alloy versus commonly used 6063T6, resulting in 10% higher stiffness; fully compatible with existing mk Framing Series 25, 40 and 50. Also, the new framing system incorporates high quality alloys, removable connections and pleasing esthetics. Series 60 framing system offers a wide range of assembly components, including: angle brackets, gussets, leveling pads, base plates, hinges, end caps, T-slot closures and cosmetic dress or safety covers.
The Series 60 framing systems is also available with foamed combination units for external cross section dimensions of 420 x 420 mm. Standard framing lengths are 5100 mm with longer lengths available on request.
