Donaldson Introduces Unparalleled Advancement in Baghouse Filtration Technology

MINNEAPOLIS - March 15 - Donaldson Company Inc. (NYSE: DCI), a leading worldwide provider of filtration systems and replacement parts, today introduced Dura-Life(TM), a new line of industrial baghouse filters capable of providing twice the life when compared to ordinary 16-ounce polyester felt bags currently on the market. Utilizing the award-winning Durapex(TM) media technology from the Polymer Group, Inc. ("PGI"), North Charleston, S.C., Dura-Life baghouse filters feature an unparalleled level of performance, far exceeding many current baghouse industry standards. Dura-Life filters offer lower maintenance costs and increased energy savings and assist in reducing emissions levels in industrial applications.

A baghouse is a piece of equipment within an air filtration system containing fabric filter bags that remove particles from an industrial dust-producing environment. These filtration systems reduce the amount of airborne particles in the workplace. They also reduce emissions released into the atmosphere. As a result, Dura-Life bags assist companies in meeting indoor and outdoor environmental standards.

"The introduction of Dura-Life baghouse filters gives our customers a cutting-edge filtration tool capable of providing an entirely new level of efficiency and cost savings," said Steve Groves, global product director, Donaldson Torit®. "We believe this is one of the most innovative advancements in baghouse technology the industry has seen in decades. It's a step that solidifies our position delivering exceptional, industry-leading filtration solutions to our customers."

Unlike commonly used polyester bag filters, which can quickly become embedded with dust and generally require numerous changes, Dura-Life filters allow for better surface loading of dust that improves pulse cleaning and prevents depth loading. As a result, Dura-Life filters last longer than standard baghouse filters. Engineered with PGI's patented Apex® technology, an advanced hydroentanglement manufacturing process, Dura-Life filters catch smaller particles and enable users to reduce replacement costs by changing bags less frequently. Fewer filter changes also translate to savings in labor and reduced production downtime.

In keeping with Donaldson's commitment to helping create cleaner work environments, Dura-Life filters reduce the amount of dust that escapes into the air. An independent lab test found that the Dura-Life bag material produces 47 percent fewer emissions than standard polyester bags on 2.5-micron-size dust particles, which are carefully monitored by the EPA. Dura-Life filters also produce a lower pressure drop compared to standard polyester filter bags, resulting in annual energy savings as high as $5,000 per collector.

Plant managers and facility engineers in a variety of manufacturing industries, including lumber, food, rubber, chemical, stone, mining and paper, can install Dura-Life filter bags on all Donaldson Torit baghouses, and on a range of competitor baghouses. Donaldson Torit offers a complete line of dependable baghouse collectors for an array of industrial applications.
