Cooper Wiring Devices Introduces New Line of While in Use Weather Protective Covers

Long Island City, New York, February 27, 2004 - A new trio of In-use Weather Protective Covers is being introduced by Cooper Wiring Devices (CWD) for use by builders, contractors, and consumers in residential, commercial and industrial applications.

The CWD covers are available in single, two-gang and extra deep styles with gray or white back and are made of a rugged UV-resistant polycarbonate material to protect the devices inside from rain, sleet and snow. The single-gang covers mount either horizontally or vertically through the use of moveable, patent-pending hinges. The clear cover is also non-corrosive and non-conductive. Cord openings accept 12-gauge or lighter cords, and boxes feature pre-mounted gasketing, and easily mountable inserts. Three easy-to-install molded inserts are included that can accommodate GFCI, toggle switches, duplex and single receptacles, and decorator devices.

Backed by a 5-year warranty, these covers meet 2002 NEC Article 406-8 (B) (1), and Canadian Electrical Code rule 26-702 specification requirements.

CWD recommends these covers for use by homeowners, as well as for vending machines, car washes, processing plants, remote power, and also for outdoor lighting and signs, landscape lighting and golf courses.
