Seiko Instruments Inc. Introduces New Compact Panel-Mount Printer Subassembly
TORRANCE, Calif. - March 4, 2004 - Seiko Instruments USA Inc., Micro Printer Division today announced the addition of the DPU-30 panel-mount subassembly to its line of thermal printers. Available off-the-shelf for a wide range of kiosk, vending, voting, medical and parking applications where space is at a premium, the new DPU-30 units are ideal for providing hardcopy receipts or records wherever they are needed. These attractive, self-contained compact printers flush-mount in any panel and provide convenient front access for easy paper loading.

"The design is clean and simple, allowing it to be attractively integrated within the front panel of any system. This subassembly can print bar codes, test patterns, characters and graphics. Line and character spacing, character position, character tone (black-on-white or reversed), and print density can all be customized. These compact printer units interface to a computer or host system via a parallel or serial (RS-232C) port.
The compact, lightweight DPU-30 * weighing approximately 230g, excluding paper roll, and measuring 101 x 116 x 61 mm * provides fast, high-resolution printing of up to 8 dots/mm, with a speed of 20mm/s or 55mm/s, depending on the power supply. In addition, because of the direct thermal printing process, the subassembly's printing is fast, as well as quiet.
Accommodating a paper width of up to 58mm, the ESC/POS-compliant unit features an out-of-paper detection sensor mounted directly on the unit, as well as a simple-to-use paper-replenishment function. Paper can be fed forward or backward using simple commands.
The list price for the DPU-30 is $265. Each unit is backed by a one-year factory warranty and the "SII Secure" customer support commitment, which includes application engineering assistance, software development and customization, comprehensive technical documentation, customer training, and technical and service support.
