Mount Prospect, Ill., January 20, 2004 - Today, Bosch Power Tools and Accessories, a division of the Robert Bosch Tool Corporation, announced the launch of a remarkable innovation in wood boring technology, the Bosch RapidFeed(TM) Spade Bit.
This new line of spade bits, sometimes known as paddle, flat and/or butterfly bits, boasts the patent-pending Bosch RapidFeed tip. Similar to the screw tip of an auger bit, the RapidFeed design helps pull the bit through the wood. Because of this unique feature, the bit cuts up to 3 times faster than the market leader and helps to reduce fatigue on the jobsite by greatly reducing the amount of force and effort that the user needs to apply while feeding the bit through the wood.
Additional innovations include an increased cutting angle to accommodate the increased speed of cut. Also, specially engineered cutting spurs on each edge of the bit actually scribe the outer edge of the hole before the cutting edge removes material. This not only creates a cleaner hole for pulling wire or running pipe, but also helps prevent breakout on the backside of the material.
