14-Bit, 2.8Msps, 3V ADC Is Fast & Compact

MILPITAS, CA - February 18, 2004 - Linear Technology introduces the LTC1403, a 14-bit, 2.8Msps, serial Analog to Digital Converter (ADC) in a 10-pin MSOP package for compact high-speed data acquisition designs. The LTC1403 offers excellent AC and DC performance of 73.5dB SINAD, ±4LSB INL, attractive for both industrial and high-speed imaging applications.

The LTC1403 draws only 5mA when sampling at 4Msps with a 3V supply. When the device is not converting, power dissipation can be reduced to 3.3mW in the NAP mode with the onboard 2.5V reference remaining, and 6uW with everything powered down in the SLEEP mode. Low power and a tiny footprint allow designers to place this high speed ADC in instrumentation sensors or probes, minimizing analog transmission line errors. The 80dB common mode input rejection allows users to eliminate ground loops and common mode noise by measuring signals differentially from the source.

The LTC1403 has an easy to use microcontroller and DSP-compatible 3-wire SPI serial interface. The excellent AC & DC performance, high-speed, small size and ease of use make the LTC1403 an ideal choice for fast and compact data acquisition designs.

The LTC1403 is available in the commercial and industrial temperature ranges. Pricing begins at $4.00 each for 1,000-piece quantities.
