Aluminum Extrusions include 7000 Series alloys.

February 12, 2004 - Aluminum Extrusions are available with walls as thin as 0.030 in. and circle sizes to 35 in. Tongue ratios, or relationship of leg length vs distance between legs, are achievable as deep as 40:1. Finishes range from conventional anodizing and power coating to electrophoresis, which is decorative and increases corrosion resistance. Machine-applied, peel-away tape protects finishes.

NSM Expands Design Parameters and Cost Breakthroughs for Aluminum Extrusions

West Hartford, CT - Northern States Metals (NSM) has substantially extended the aluminum extrusion design possibilities. As a result of specialized presses and processes, the company can produce a range of parts previously considered outside the realm of either affordability or capability for this technology.

Wall thicknesses can now be reduced by as much as 50%, for substantial material savings. Design engineers can employ extrusion walls as thin as 0.030" and even less for some smaller extrusions. Circle size to 35" is available. Tongue ratios, or the relationship of a leg length vs. distance between legs, are achievable as deep as 40:1 (The Industry best was previously 13:1). All these parameters can be held to a tolerance up to 200% better than previous tolerances. NSM works with a wide variety of stronger alloys, including 7000 Series. In addition, the company can add a range of finishes, from more conventional anodizing and powder coating to electrophoresis, which is highly decorative and increases corrosion resistance. Also available is a unique, machine-applied, peel-away tape to protect these finishes.

ISO 9001 - 2000 certified Northern States Metals has been extruding aluminum since 1972. The company offers Turnkey Total Product solutions from value-added design, fabrication and assembly to packaging and delivery.
