Economical and Expandable Gas Monitoring Network

A compact, easy-to-install gas monitoring system that provides networked surveillance for multiple locations and/or multiple gases is now available from PureAire Monitoring Systems. Designed to provide life safety personnel with centralized toxic gas surveillance at an affordable price, the PureAire MDS-8 Gas Monitoring Network is ideal for monitoring small process areas, gas storage rooms, cylinder receiving docks, and other locations where hazardous gases may be present. A fully integrated, self-contained system, each MDS-8 provides as many as 8 channels of independent, continuous surveillance. The system is available for a wide variety of hazardous gases, including ammonia, chlorine, fluorine, HCI, and HF as well as arsine, phosphine, and related hydrides.

The MDS-8 Gas Monitoring Network consists of a centralized MDS-8 Controller linked to individual gas detectors/transmitters. Concentration from each connected detector is displayed in either bargraph or numerical format on an easy to read local LCD display and is also output as an RS-485 digital signal. Gas concentrations that exceed user-programmed alarm levels are indicated locally and may also be output to auxiliary alarm/control systems via dedicated alarm relays. Loss of sensor signals and other instrument error conditions activate a local channel status LED and a common system fault relay.

The MDS-8 Controller measures approximately 5-5/8 (H) x 5-5/8 (W) x 5-1/2 (D) inches. It operates on 24 VDC power and may be daisy-chained with other MDS-8 Controllers when network expansion is required. Each connected gas detector/transmitter may be located as far as 3280 feet from the central controller.
