Coil Handler combines functions to save space.

January 5, 2004 - Mounted on common machine base, SpaceMaster Compact Coil Line Series unwinds, straightens, and feeds coil stock. It eliminates need for excessive slack loop area or loop pit and comes with powered straighteners in 5-over-5 or 5-over-4 arrangement. Series processes max coil widths of 12–64 in., coil thicknesses to .250 in. and coil ODs to 64 in., depending on model. Series 1, 2, and 3 accept coil weight to 6,600, 11,000, and 20,000 lb, respectively.

Combination Reel/Straightener/Feeder Now Available in a Single Space-Saving Unit

Introducing the SpaceMaster Compact Coil Line Series

Sterling Heights, MI – Unveiled at Metalform ’04 (booth #0544), Coe Press Equipment introduces the SpaceMaster Compact Coil Line Series, a new line of space-saving, multi-functioning coil lines combining the three functions of unwinding, straightening and feeding of coil stock…all on a single unit. In total, 19 different model and size configurations are available.

The SpaceMaster’s key benefit is a drastic floor space reduction on the stamping room floor, but without compromise in processing speed, reliability and overall performance. The system is mounted on a common machine base, helping to maximize rigidity during the feeding process. It includes a combination straightener/feeder unit and eliminates the need for an excessive slack loop area or loop pit. The overall footprint of a SpaceMaster model can be 12’-15’’ — compared to the required length for a similar conventional line that can measure over 25”.

The SpaceMaster Series has been designed and built for precision coil stock feeding to all types of stamping presses. Competitively priced for as much as a 20% savings to conventional coil handling/feeding systems, the SpaceMaster is offered in three size ranges:

SpaceMaster Series 1 Features

For smaller capacity coil feeding needs, our SpaceMaster Series 1 comes in four model sizes to process maximum coil widths of 12”, 16”, 20” or 24”. As standard, Series 1 models can process coil thicknesses to .125”, coil O.D.’s to 60”, and handle a maximum coil weight of 4,500 pounds. The feed rollers measure to a 3.5” diameter and straightener rollers to 2.5” in diameter. The powered straightener rolls are configured in a 5 over 5 arrangement. Optional features include a hydraulic traveling coil car and ability to increase coil weight capacity to 6,600 pounds.

SpaceMaster Series 2 Features

For medium capacity coil feeding, our SpaceMaster Series 2 comes in seven model sizes to process maximum coil widths from 12” to 52”. As standard, Series 2 models can process coil thicknesses to .187”, coil O.D.’s to 60”, and handle a maximum coil weight of either 6,600 pounds or 11,000 lbs. Feed rollers are 5” in diameter and straightener rollers measure 2.75” in diameter. The powered straightener rolls are configured in a 5 over 4 arrangement. Important optional features include a hydraulic traveling coil car, increased line speed capacity to 80’/min. and the ability to increase coil weight capacity to 11,000 or 15,000 pounds.

SpaceMaster Series 3 Features

For larger capacity coil feeding, our SpaceMaster Series 3 comes in eight model sizes to process maximum coil widths from 12” to 64”. As standard, Series 3 models can process coil thicknesses to .250”, coil O.D.’s to 64”, and handle a maximum coil weight of either 11,000 pounds or 15,000 lbs. or 20,000 lbs.. Beefy feed rollers measure to 7” in diameter, while straightener rollers measure to 3.5” in diameter. The powered straightener rolls are configured in a 5 over 4 arrangement. Important optional features include a hydraulic traveling coil car, increased line speed capacity to 80’/min., increased coil I.D. capacity to 72”, and/or coil weights to 15,000, 20,000 or 30,000 pounds.

Other Common Features/Specifications Found Across All Models

· Structural integrity is ensured because of the heavy-duty common machine base construction.

· Faster and safer operations can be achieved with “hands free” threading capability.

· An air-operated coil hold down arm prevents coil clockspring.

· Increased processing speeds are provided by the “closed loop” AC servo feed drive/motor and AC inverter uncoiler motor, both combining to deliver a fast 60-80 fpm line speed and coil strip placement accuracy of +/-.005”.

· Simple, yet powerful controllability comes from our ServoMaster Controller MMI. The end result… ensuring greater product reliability and performance. It features a 4-line x 80 character alpha numeric display screen, 500 job memory capacity, batch counter to 999,999 cycles, single cycle push-button control, feed length setting to 999.999 inches, Inch or metric display and other operational features--all providing for easier job set-up and trouble shooting.

· Other standard efficiency-enhancing features include a motorized coil payoff reel, hydraulic mandrel expansion feature, a true pilot release feature, power driven straightener rolls, and many others.

Coe Press Equipment products are backed by our comprehensive “3-2-1” Warranty.

The equipment has a three year limited coverage on all major components manufactured by Coe Press Equipment; two year limited coverage on all mechanical components originally installed by Coe Press Equipment; and one year full coverage on the complete system.
