Climax Portable Machine Tools, Inc. Introduces New On-Site Welding System
New automated system offers advanced performance and precision with substantially reduced weld times
NEWBERG, Oregon. December 3, 2003 - Climax Portable Machine Tools, Inc., a strategic provider of comprehensive, on-site machining solutions, introduced today a new line of automated on-site welders designed to decrease weld time and improve productivity for machinists in shipbuilding, construction, mining, and service sectors. The product line includes the AutoBoreWelder 1000, 2000, 3000, and 5000. Each model enables a uniform weld build-up for bore, flange and O.D. shafts, and valve repair work.
The system interfaces with other Climax portable machine tools, including the Boring Machine Systems BB3000, BB5000, BB4000, and, allows one set-up for both welding and boring. Each of the four models in the line can be used for repairs on any equipment with a pivot point, including most construction equipment such as tractors and earthmovers, large steel fabrications, or shipbuilding equipment such as stern tubes.
"The patented technology of the AutoBoreWelder product line will help our clients produce precise, uniform, high-quality welds in a variety of settings, in significantly less time," said Climax CEO Geoff Gilmore, P.E. "With one set-up for both welding and boring that cuts work time in half, the product line meets our goal to develop innovative on-site solutions that help our clients complete their repair work more efficiently."
The AutoBoreWelder 3000 has a patented "step" process that enables precise control of weld placement throughout the application. It also features an auto-skip function, which allows users to designate "weld only" or "skip weld" areas. This feature is used for rapid completion of work on out-of-round bored or bores containing keyways. It also includes pie and carriage return modes.
Climax engineers expect the AutoBoreWelder 3000 to be the most popular model because of its versatility. However, the 5000 model includes more features, such as a patented method for circumferential weld applications with variable indexing capabilities. As with all Climax tools, the line is enhanced by Climax's engineering consulting and training services.
