PSI Announces a Break-Through in Automated Distribution to Speed up the Delivery Process

Mississauga, ON November 11 , 2003 – The Experts in Document and Order Fulfillment Solutions, PSI, has further advanced in the area of automated distribution. The dynamic Product and Document Fulfillment System (PDFS) will completely automate the distribution process of individual customer orders, however simple or complex. PDFS can process up to 1,500 orders per hour, with only one person required to operate the system. This will reduce the manpower required, saving both time and money.

PDFS begins by scanning the barcode of the product to identify the required set of literature and invoice for that particular order. The IN-Feeder then inserts specific marketing items such as brochures, catalogs and CDs, based on the user preferences identified from the barcode scan.

Simultaneously, the Print-Feeder prints high quality, personalized documents such as invoices or packing slips.

To make the process more accurate, the barcodes on the product and documents are scanned again and verified before they are merged. This double scanning procedure where barcodes are matched on the product and invoice eliminates possible error. This information is also used to generate a shipping label at the bagging station.

Lastly, the merged product with its appropriate literature is bagged or boxed, with a shipping label printed and applied at the same station. The system can incorporate a variety of bagging technologies depending on specific customer needs. The product is then ready to ship immediately.

This fully automated system will completely assemble the product and documentation with little operator intervention. PDFS is the most cost effective means to fulfill customers’ orders resulting in increased productivity and profitability with unparalleled accuracy.

PSI, the Experts in Document and Order Fulfillment Solutions, manufactures unique packaging and printing solutions. PSI also develops custom products to suit individual customer needs, as well as integrating PSI products into existing customer lines.
