Updated ‘Big Round Filter’ Combines Heavy Duty Dust Collection with Long Life, Service Ease

Jonesboro, Ark., October 2003 – An updated “Big Round Filter” (BRF) from Farr Air Pollution Control (APC) is designed to outlast and outperform other baghouse dust collectors by combining heavy duty construction with a redesigned cleaning mechanism and other high performance features.

The reverse air dust collector now features a domed tank head roof made of 3/8” thick metal to eliminate rust-through problems that can occur over time. The domed roof is combined with a rugged all-welded housing of 7 and 10-gauge metal that will withstand 25” w.g. pressure. The dust collector’s cleaning system is self-contained and requires no plant compressed air. Cleaning is performed by a rotating arm that uses a minimal number of wearing parts for reduced wear and tear – allowing Farr APC to offer an unmatched three-year warranty. The newly updated cleaning mechanism maintains this simple, long-lasting design while eliminating the use of proprietary parts. Thus, after three years’ time, replacement parts can be readily sourced from any local motor shop for faster and lower-cost service.

The Big Round Filter is ideal for high efficiency, high-volume collection of wood, grain, metal, mineral and other dry dusts generated during powder and bulk handling processes, woodworking and furniture manufacturing, mining and quarry operations, metalworking and heavy industrial applications. Additional features include:

· A perforated inner cone that reduces can velocities and enhances performance – resulting in high filtration efficiency, high dust loads and longer media life. The perforated design also provides a fire safety function by allowing water from sprinklers to enter the cone if needed.

· A large ladder and service platform that provides easy access to the clean air plenum.

· A choice of 21 standard models that accept industry standard fabric bags or pleated media. Replacement filters are available from Farr APC or from local suppliers.
