Severn Trent Services Introduces the Aztec(TM) Series 5000 Dissolved Oxygen and Mixed Liquor Suspended Solids Meters
State-of-the-art self-cleaning and self-calibrating systems for efficient measurement and control
Fort Washington, Pa. - Oct. xx, 2003 -Rising power costs and more stringent NPDES permit requirements make it increasingly important to find effective dissolved oxygen (DO) and mixed liquor suspended solids (MLSS) control mechanisms to use during aeration basin operations at wastewater treatment plants. The new Aztec(TM) Series 5000 from Severn Trent Services, an automatic self-cleaning and self-calibrating DO and MLSS meter, is a highly automated aeration basin monitoring system with built in data logging and remote communications, capable of single, dual or combined measurements. The unique systems incorporate a pneumatic cylinder and shroud assembly used for in-situ cleaning and calibration, minimizing maintenance, increasing measurement accuracy, and improving effluent quality in wastewater applications.
Over time, water contamination fouls DO systems, reducing their efficiency. Since the aeration process can account for a hefty 50-90% of total plant electrical usage, significant savings can be realized if a reliable DO measurement is used in conjunction with the treatment plants' control system. The new Aztec Series 5000 is automatically self-cleaning and reduces fouling to increase efficiency. Self-calibration verifies sensor performance and optional remote communication provides system status reports, minimizing the need for manual attention and unplanned maintenance. All combined, these features ensure that the reading and output from the Series 5000 systems are accurate and reliable. Incorporating a replaceable cell that does not require electrolyte or membrane replacement further minimizes maintenance costs associated with the Series 5000 systems.
The new Aztec Series 5000 will be introduced and on display at the 2003 WEFTEC Conference and Exposition, Booth number 3725, in Los Angeles, California.
