New Six Million Peak Beam Candlepower Maxa Beam Weather-Resistant Handheld Xenon Searchlight Provides Expanded User Features

The world's most powerful handheld searchlight...bright enough to read a newspaper 1 1/2 miles away

EDGEMONT, PA -- Peak Beam Systems, Inc., Edgemont, PA, has released its latest model Maxa Beam, the most powerful handheld xenon searchlight in the world. Its new features make it even more advantageous for surveillance, security and other general applications. The three main areas of advanced features include its new rugged, weather-resistant construction; improved battery performance; and a wider selection of user programmable features. With its six million peak beam candlepower and ability to illuminate objects at 1 1/2 miles, Maxa Beam remains the most powerful, focusable, handheld searchlight available -- with easy-to-use features that can be operated with one hand. Users prefer its unique design that permits them to hold and operate the searchlight with one hand while leaving the other hand free for the business at hand. It is ergonomically designed so that the thumb of the hand holding the searchlight can control its many user-programmable features as well as vary and control the size of the beam from a wide 40° flood to a narrow 1° beam.

New Water Resistant Construction. The improved water-resistant construction is a result of redesign and additions of seals, o-rings, washers, connectors, sealed cables, pressure equalization and better PC board isolation and construction. The tougher construction makes Maxa Beam more useful and reliable in even harsh, severe environments including rain, snow, and marine settings.

Improved Battery Performance. New battery chemistry technologies make Maxa Beam battery packs smaller, lighter, and increase the unit's operating time, reduce recharging times, and increase charge-holding ability for longer storage time.

New Programmable Features. Maxa Beam can be user programmed easily, simply, and swiftly. The new programmable features include:

• The diameter and the range of the beam (from a 40° flood to a 1° very intense beam) can be pre-selected so that the unit assumes that beam diameter and range immediately when turned on - permitting the user to swiftly "frame" the area to be illuminated.

• The default intensity can be pre-selected so that when the unit is turned on, it automatically operates at the brightness pre-selected by the user - at the "normal" or "battery saver" intensity.

• The unit can be programmed so the strobe function is automatically activated when the unit is switched on. The strobe function is often used as a non-lethal disabling force to stop perpetrators in their tracks. With the new instant-on feature, the surprise element is greatly enhanced.

• The strobe function cycling intervals (rate and duration) can be pre-programmed to take full advantage of the surprise and intensity elements of the strobe. The selections include momentary strobe, continuous strobe, and battery saver mode.

Maxa Beam is compact and lightweight, weighing in at just a bit over 3 pounds. A shoulder strap and detachable battery are available for increased comfort and carrying ease. Over the past 14 years the basic design has been proven, field-tested and refined with input provided by the many military, police, security, and other users.

Maxa Beam is available in several kit configurations, including the basic kit (with the searchlight, carrying strap, rechargeable battery module, and a drop-in trickle charger), up to the Deluxe package (with two re-chargeable nickel-cadmium battery modules, a Multi-Voltage Quick-Charge/Power Supply station, a covert infrared filter and protective/storage pouch, 5' coiled power cord, and a rugged, impact resistant unbreakable storage and carrying case).

Maxa Beam is also available with a host of useful accessories. The searchlight has been in long-term use worldwide by the military, law enforcement, fire services, prisons, maritime industry, railroads, communications and utilities, and security teams.
