MEMPHIS, Tennessee (August 13, 2003) – Precon Inc., a leading manufacturer of precision sensors, probes, and integrated electronics for over 35 years, announces the PL-PX temperature probe for use in plastic and metal piping systems. The probe housing features a high density O-ring that seats into a specially designed groove and shoulder to provide a seal capable of handling operating pressures of up to 100 psi. The probe is intended for 2-inch or larger diameter pipes and requires a 3/8 inch hole drilled with a standard drill bit. It is secured in place with a stainless steel clamp, so no threading is required. The PL-PX probe utilizes a corrosion-resistant brass or stainless steel housing with a substantially increased wall thickness, which eliminates the need for a separate thermal well.
The standard probe is available with a choice of thermistor or RTD sensor elements and a wide variety of resistance curves. Additional options include various probe lengths and standard or custom wire or cable.
Applications for the new probe include pool and spa heaters, food and beverage equipment, surface transportation, analytical instruments, and building controls.
Precon Inc., a Kele Company, manufactures high quality thermistor and RTD-based temperature sensors, probes and controllers, humidity sensors and controllers, integrated electronics and gas monitors and instruments. Precon is headquartered in Memphis, TN. For additional information contact:
