V3 Systems’ New Version Adds RFID and Mobile, and Enhances Reverse Logistics Capability

V3 Systems Version 4.8 Combines RFID, Mobile, and
Reverse Logistics for Rapid Implementation of Multi-Facility,
Multi-Vendor 3PLs and Manufacturers

Charlotte, NC–August 26, 2003 – V3 Systems, provider of networked inter-enterprise supply chain execution software for manufacturers and 3PLs of all sizes, today announced the release of Version 4.8. Version 4.8 makes dramatic advances on competing supply chain execution systems by coupling new RFID, Mobile, and enhanced Reverse Logistics capabilities with V3’s widely recognized ability for fast implementations and inter-enterprise business process networking abilities.

V3 Systems’ inventory visibility features have advanced its users profitability by redefining what “available” means in the supply chain. Now, with the release of its new enhanced Version 4.8, V3 extends inventory visibility and control across facilities, across supply chain processes, and even across enterprises. More than an event manager, V3 Systems maps the business processes of disparate WMS and SCE systems with a web-deployed supply chain execution solution that now offers RFID, Mobile, and Reverse Logistics capabilities.

“Version 4.8 represents a significant leap in functionality by layering on several new capabilities in a single release. RFID, Mobile, and Reverse Logistics are in high demand by our manufacturing and 3PL clients,” said Ashley Campbell, President and CEO of V3 Systems. “V3’s ability to extend functionality across multiple inventory networks in complex systems is really on display with this new release.”

V3’s Reverse Logistics

V3’s Reverse Logistics capability crosses multiple boundaries—including data boundaries, geographic barriers, language, currencies, customs, and government regulation—with spectacular levels of granularity and control. V3’s Reverse Logistics can integrate with any warehouse management or shipping system to provide complete visibility for all returns and aftermarket services. A recent implementation of V3 Reverse Logistics for the global 3PL, TNT Express, saw 78 facilities in 10 Asian countries “go live” within 90 days.

V3’s RFID

Version 4.8’s RFID uses automated, “scan-free” inbound- and outbound-logistics data collection, and can drive bottom-line savings and operational performance to any warehouse management system. By accurately delivering data down to the pallets and cases, V3’s RFID accelerates information flow across any inventory network, enabling proactive management of warehouse and outsource operations. V3’s RFID can integrate with any legacy supply chain or WMS application, allowing customers to completely leverage their current software investment.

V3’s Mobile

V3’s Mobile module, introduced in August 2003, extends V3’s full enterprise functionality to a broad range of mobile and wireless devices. Leveraging the power of Windows Mobile and V3’s Microsoft .Net Application Architecture, V3’s now extends to mobile devices to support full inventory lifecycle management, including inbound logistics management, outbound logistics management (including merge/merge-in-transit) as well as reverse and services logistics management. V3 Mobile will provide seamless access to connected users both inside and outside the traditional “four-walls” using any Pocket PC, Microsoft Smartphone, or other devices that support Microsoft’s Compact Framework and are connected through WiFi or GPRS.
