Centrifuge reduces misting and foaming.

September 2, 2003 - Turbo-Separator Model T6 centrifuge separates solids from oil, coolant, or water and includes centrate removal system that reduces misting and foaming associated with metalworking fluids. Unit also offers hinged lid that provides ease of access for cleanouts. In operation, contaminated liquid flows by gravity or is pumped into center feed of rotor and is accelerated to speeds of 3,450 rpm. Product processes oil at flow rates to 8 gpm and water-based fluids to 13 gpm.

Redesigned Centrifuge Reduces Misting, Foaming and has Easier Cleaning Access

(Walpole, MA – August 2003) The Turbo-Separator Model T6 centrifuge separates solids from oil, coolant, or water. Its manufacturer has improved the unit with a new centrate removal system that significantly reduces the misting and foaming associated with many metalworking fluids. Further, the T6 now features a hinged lid, making access for cleanouts easier and faster for the user.

In operation, contaminated liquid flows by gravity or is pumped into the center feed of the rotor and is then accelerated to speeds of 3,450 rpm. Centrifugal force then causes the solids in the liquid to conform to the inside vertical surface of the sludge liner. The cleaned liquid is scooped from the rotor and flows under pressure into a storage tank or directly to the machine tool sump. The unique scoop mechanism eliminates the misting problems created when the centrate is allowed to overflow the bowl cover and be impinged against the centrifuge case.

The separated sludge is easily removed from the rotor. The hinged housing cover lifts easily and the sludge liner is removed without the need for special tools. A cleaned liner is then installed and the centrifuge is ready for continued operation. The T6 can process oil at flow rates up to 8 gpm and water based fluids at flow rates up to 13 gpm. The units can be supplied free-standing or they can be designed into complete systems.
