Improved Task/Spotlight LED Direct Incandescent Replacement Lamps Broaden LEDs Appeal to Incandescent Installations

TORRANCE, CA — August 15, 2003 — Continuing to make strides in converting incandescent installations to Light Emitting Diode (LEDs) lamps, LEDtronics introduces an upgrade of its Task/Spotlight Direct Incandescent Replacement LED Lamps. These energy-efficient and long-lived illuminators integrate Indium Gallium Aluminum Phosphide (InGaAlP) and Silicon Carbide/Gallium Nitride (SiC/GaN) LED technologies, 25mm Edison screw bases and light-maximizing designs. Lamps come in 30-LED and 40-LED configurations. Depending upon the model, Task/Spotlight LED lamps draw from a minimum of 1.2W to a maximum of 2.7W. Lamps are available in common voltages from 12V to 240V AC. Colors offered are Green (570nm and 525nm), White (4500K and 8,000K), Blue (470nm and 505nm), Yellow (585nm), Red (660nm and 635nm), and Orange (605nm). Infrared lamps are in wavelengths of 850nm, 880nm and 940nm. Unless otherwise specified, Task/Spotlight lamps are manufactured with a narrow viewing angle of 12° – 15°. Optional angles are Standard (20° - 30°), Medium (50°-60°) and Extra Wide (120°). Workstation designers, architects, transportation engineers and other lighting professionals will find these lights to be excellent solutions for maintenance-intensive applications.

Solid-state design renders LEDs impervious to electrical and mechanical shock, vibration, frequent switching and environmental extremes. Lamps perform well in applications where voltage dips or surges. Integrated current-limited resistors and polarity-protection diodes assure that no circuit modifications are required. Additionally, with the use of multiple LEDs, an LED cluster lamp continues to provide light even if one or more emitters fail unlike when the filament breaks in an incandescent bulb. With an average life span of 100,000-plus hours (11 years), LEDs operate reliably year-after-year making them ideal solutions for decorative and night task lighting applications including large message panels, billboards, scoreboards, time and temperature signs, arcade machines, casino accent light, theme and amusement parks, stage lighting, carnivals, theaters, elevators, aviation, automotive, railroads, bridges, display counters and ornamental lighting. Task/Spotlight LEDs can be used as individual pixels in a large dot matrix screen, full color screens, moving signs and displays. Task/Spotlight LED lamps use only 10% - 20% of the energy consumed by equivalent incandescent lamps, and when combined with their maintenance-free construction, the cost savings are substantial.

Founded in 1983, LEDtronics® leads where others only follow when it comes to designing, manufacturing and packaging state-of-the-art LEDs to meet the world’s constantly changing lighting needs. Our inventive product line encompasses an array of direct incandescent lamp replacement Based LEDs, low-cost snap-in and relampable Panel Mount LEDs, high intensity sunlight-visible Discrete LEDs, PCB LEDs circuit board status indicators, surface mount diodes SMT LEDs, full-spectrum rainbow RGB LEDs and Infra-Red (IR) LEDs.

Prices for Task/Spotlight LED Lamps range from $36.65 - $76.00 each depending on LED technology and. Availability is stock to 4 – 6 weeks for special requirements.
