The 3M Carpet Care System Gets Carpet Looking Good and Keeps It That Way
Introducing a new line of carpet care products from 3M and Scotchgard
ST. PAUL, Minn. – July 28, 2003 – The Commercial Care Division of 3M introduces a full line of Scotchgard™ and 3M brand products that create the 3M™ Carpet Care System. The extensive line of carpet care products and solutions is designed to “Clean then Protect” carpet by utilizing a combination of products to provide optimum carpet appearance and enhance customers’ return on their carpet investment
“The Carpet Care System from 3M focuses first on prevention,” says Adam Moritz, 3M Marketing Supervisor. “Through a series of steps based on purpose and frequency, the 3M Carpet Care System provides products that help optimize carpet appearance for years with trusted and proven Scotchgard protection.”
The five categories of carpet maintenance are identified as 1) preventative, 2) daily and specialty, 3) interim, 4) restorative, and 5) protective. Each product in the 3M Carpet Care System complements a stage in the carpet care cycle.
1) Preventative maintenance includes proper matting at building entrances and sufficient dust mopping on hard floor surfaces adjacent to carpet areas. Proactive, regularly scheduled maintenance removes soil before it can build up in carpet and cause irreparable damage.
2) Daily care involves adequate vacuuming combined with spot and gum removal. The 3M Carpet Care System consists of new Scotchgard and 3M brand products that remove and help to prevent future spots and stains on carpet and upholstery. “It is important that spots and spills are addressed immediately,” suggests Adam Moritz, 3M Marketing Supervisor. “The longer spots, stains and gum remain on carpet fibers, the more difficult it is to get them out. Removal of spots helps you improve your overall carpet appearance.”
3) Interim maintenance takes place on a weekly or monthly basis and focuses on areas that need more than just vacuuming, such as high-traffic areas, entryways and dining areas. This step in the 3M™ Carpet Care System involves appropriate stain removal and interim bonnet/spray cleaning. This interim cleaning method uses very little moisture so carpets dry quickly, which minimizes downtime in the facility.
4) Effective pretreatment and extraction is necessary for restorative maintenance. Restorative maintenance provides deep, thorough cleaning on a quarterly or biannual basis.
5) “Protective maintenance is the key to the 3M Carpet Care System and the best results are achieved with the new Scotchgard™ Carpet & Upholstery Protector,” states Adam Moritz, 3M Marketing Supervisor. “It helps to keep carpet looking good longer, extends the time between restorative cleaning, and makes spill and stain removal easier and vacuuming more effective.”
