August 1, 2003 - Model A509 drill features 135º point angle with split point geometry to help position hole and produce small, manageable chips. Faster than standard helix allows for chip evacuation away from cutting edge. Dialub amorphous diamond coating is extremely hard, giving drill very low coefficient of friction. Hole depth capability is 4 x dia in 1 hit. Drill comes in jobber lengths, DIN 338, from 3.0–16 mm. Fractional sizes are also available.

Asheville, NC July 28, 2003... Dormer Tools announces the new A509 Dialub coated drills specifically designed for drilling stainless steel and similar tough materials. Manufactured in M42 HSCo steel to provide a rigid and wear resistant substrate, Dialub, an amorphous diamond coating, is extremely hard, gives the drill a very low coefficient of friction, which in turn improves hole surface finish, prevents build-up on cutting edges and delivers overall higher productivity and extended tool life. In addition a faster than standard helix provides added drill strength, and allows for efficient chip evacuation away from the cutting edge, while the 135º point angle with split point geometry helps to position the hole and produces small, manageable chips. Reduced thrust force results from a steep web taper and thin web at the drill point which facilitates penetration. Although the drill design has been tailored to meet the demands of drilling stainless steel, the A509 jobber drill is extremely useful on very soft, ductile materials, such as aluminum, titanium and nickel alloys. Hole depth capability is 4 X diameter in one hit. The A509 drills are available in jobber lengths, DIN 338, from 3.0mm to16mm. Sizes up to 10mm are in 0.1mm increments. Fractional sizes from 1/8 -1/2 x 64ths are also available.
