New Clear Backbedding Sealants Permit Immediate Handling after Application
BRIDGEWATER, N.J.--Two new, clear backbedding sealants permit immediate handling of windows or doors after the glass is bedded. This handling includes vertical stacking, wrapping and shipping.
These sealants also offer great workability by providing easy deglazing on top of their good adhesion, flexibility and internal strength. Experience shows that deglazing PURFECT GLAZE(TM) 34-880A sealant is similar to that of cold silicone after cure.
PURFECT GLAZE sealants are American Architectural Manufacturers Association verified (AAMA 802.3-92). The other characteristics of this one-part polyurethane based sealant:
o controlled squeeze-out improves final window appearance,
o does not creep or cold-flow during long periods,
o patented catalyst technology ensures reliable cure to wood, vinyl and aluminum,
o extensive testing and approvals show durability and resistance to weathering,
o low viscosity application reduces equipment wear,
o stable viscosity,
o 10-minute open time under most conditions,
o 100 percent solid sealant before heating,
o application temperature range of 160 to 225 degrees F,
o shelf life of six months at 77 degrees F.
Apart from the clear versions of PURFECT GLAZE sealant, customers may choose from five other types of PURFECT GLAZE sealants. The different types allow for preferences among gray, clear and white. Each of these is available in 55-gallon drums or 5-gallon pails. Some exhibit standard green strength while others provide higher green strength.
