Locking Ejectors suit cPCI enclosures and buss systems.

July 10, 2003 - Surface geometry of Gen II cPCI-E3™ Locking Ejectors eliminates potential for unintentional tripping of hot-swap switch associated with PICMG 2.0+ circuitry interfaces of peripherals engaged in cPCI enclosures. Units include positive audible and tactile click when ejector is engaged or locked. Secure engagement is assured by force rating of over 60 lb, while red Norel™ push-button facilitates insertion and extraction. Ejectors are compatible with 6U and 3U cards in 4–8 HP widths.

Accelerated Ejectors replace standard devices.

Bivar Introduces cPCI Locking Ejectors Featuring New Ergonomics and Design Geometry to Prevent Accidental Tripping of Hot-Swap Switches

Irvine, CA, May 20, 2003 - Featuring new design innovations to address emerging customer requirements for reliability, and providing distinctive ergonomic improvements in both function and aesthetic design, Bivar introduces the Gen II cPCI-E3â„¢ series of locking ejectors for industry's rapidly growing use Compact PCI enclosures and buss systems.

A new design in the ejectors surface geometry eliminates the potential for unintentional tripping of the hot-swap switch associated with PICMG 2.0+ circuitry interfaces of peripherals engaged in cPCI enclosures, and improves the life cycle of standard hot-swap switches without degradation of switching speeds.

Further ergonomic enhancements include a positive audible and tactile "click" when the ejector is engaged, or placed in the locked position, and a smooth, narrower profile lever design that won't pinch fingers or catch surrounding PCBs or other cage hardware. Secure engagement is assured by a force rating of over 60 pounds, while a distinctive red Norelâ„¢ push-button located on the top surface of the ejector facilitates easy insertion and extraction (additional colors are available by special order).

The Gen II cPCI-E3 Series establishes a futuristic design that includes no visible parting lines or marks. Bivar's proprietary manufacturing process enables imaginative use of colors, coding or other "functional art" that lends to distinctive packaging design that can set the manufacturers product apart from other competing lines.

The new design is compliant with the latest revisions of IEEE 101 and PICMG CompactPCIâ„¢ standards and meets the requirements of a wide variety of applications including telecommunications, laboratory, security, industrial controls, test and measurement and electronic enclosures.

"The design of the GenII cPCI-E3 Series is a direct result of listening to the emerging needs of our core customers, while realizing the essentials of improved reliability and lowest cost-to-value", stated Anthony Vilgiate, Bivar Vice President of Strategic Business Development. "In answering these primary requirements we have also created a product that offers cutting edge artistic design in an otherwise common ejector and
accessory environment."

Bivar's GenII cPCI-E3 ejectors are compatible with 6U and 3U cards in both 4HP through 8HP widths. They can be supplied with or without hot-swap micro-switches and provide ESD and polarity keying. Standard models are available in black with a red button or can be ordered in custom colors to facilitate branding or coding. The ejectors are also available pre-assembled onto Bivar's cPCI faceplates, including LED indicators. GenII cPCI-E3 ejectors are priced from $2.40 each in production quantities and are immediately available from stock.
