G-P Gypsum Extends Densguard™ Family of Products with 5/8" Densarmor™ Abuse Guard™ FireGuard® Panel

New Interior Panel Effectively Combines Mold Resistance and Abuse Resistance

ATLANTA - G-P Gypsum, one of the largest producers of gypsum wallboard in North America, has responded to customer demand with the development of 5/8" DensArmor™ Abuse Guard™ Fireguard®, a unique interior gypsum board that effectively provides both mold resistance and abuse resistance in one panel.

As the latest product to join G-P Gypsum's line of patented DensGuard™ products, DensArmor Abuse Guard panels are designed for interior wall assemblies in areas where mold resistance, surface durability and indentation resistance are especially important, such as schools, hospitals and other high-traffic areas.

"We are very pleased to add DensArmor Abuse Guard to our line of performance-driven DensGuard products," said Dave Fleiner, president of G-P Gypsum. "There is no other interior panel on the market that can provide such superior mold resistance, abrasion resistance, surface durability and fire protection all in one. Once again, we've raised the bar for the entire industry."

Features of DensArmor Abuse Guard include a coated glass mat surface on the back of the panel that provides superior protection from incidental moisture in the wall cavity and is highly resistant to the growth of mold (per ASTM D 3273). The face of the panel consists of a heavy-duty, abrasion-resistant paper that meets or exceeds the competition in abrasion resistance (per ASTM D 4060), surface indentation resistance (per ASTM D 5420) and soft body impact (per ASTM E 695).

The product is 5/8" thick and meets criteria for Type X, allowing it to be used in any assembly where Type X wallboard is specified. It is manufactured to meet applicable sections of ASTM C 36 and ASTM C 1177.
