New Schindler Miconic HXpress(Tm) and Miconic TXpress(Tm) Modernization Systems Improve Elevator Performance and Reliability

MORRISTOWN, NJ, June 30, 2003 - Schindler Elevator Corporation introduces its new pre-packaged modernization products, Miconic HXpress(tm) for hydraulic elevators and Miconic TXpress(tm) for geared traction elevators. Both products offer advanced performance and reliability with shortened lead times and efficient installation.

The Miconic HXpress uses microprocessor technology to modernize older hydraulic elevators. Through the use of Schindler's state of the art Dynahyd hydraulic control valve, Miconic HXpress offers performance improvement opportunities for most low-rise buildings. With Miconic HXpress modernization, building owners and managers also can expect remote monitoring, more consistent car leveling and fewer unscheduled service calls.

The Miconic TXpress system offers a streamlined means to upgrade the performance and appearance of the older traction elevators in mid-rise buildings. It is a specially engineered solution that allows Schindler to fully modernize a compatible elevator at significantly lower costs and with less downtime than conventional modernizations. The Miconic TXpress operates on a conventional Miconic TX platform, which enhances ride quality by quickly analyzing traffic patterns and car positions, thus, allowing for significantly shorter wait times, especially at peak usage periods. Schindler currently has all interfaces with existing Westinghouse, Haughton and Otis equipment.

"Schindler's Miconic HXpress and TXpress modernization offerings provide building owners with a cost effective way to bring new technology, performance improvement and reliability to existing hydraulic and traction elevators," says Monte Lukov, vice president, Modernization Operations, Schindler Elevator Corporation. "These newly enhanced product offerings are a welcomed addition to the Miconic family that includes our first and best in class Miconic 10 destination dispatch system. By utilizing the most up-to-date technology in the industry, Schindler is able to offer products that demonstrate our continued commitment to elevator modernization."
