DTE Energy Technologies Developing 400 KW Miniturbine for Industrial On-Site Power
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – DTE Energy Technologies, a non-regulated subsidiary of DTE Energy Co. (NYSE:DTE) is developing a 400 kW miniturbine designed for industrial power generation applications.
The energy|now branded ENT 400 miniturbine opens up a new market segment for turbines that were previously only available in either much smaller or larger sizes. Based on a proven aero-derivative natural gas fired turbine, it has been specifically designed for applications where its high output exhaust gas can be used for direct heating and drying applications such as ceramics manufacturing, paint and grain drying and textile manufacturing. Replacing the need for separate heating systems, the ENT 400 provides up to 6 MMBtu/hr of heat in the form of direct exhaust at 27,450 lb/ hr. at 1013 ºF, plus 396kW of continuous electric power at a total energy cost less than traditional systems plus electric grid charges.
The system is fully integrated in a compact container, a fraction of the size and weight of traditional IC engine based systems, and includes all controls, utility switchgear, and comes standard with 5 years of remote monitoring and control services and preventative maintenance.
Factory testing on initial systems is underway with field validation slated for the 4th quarter of 2003. Advance customer orders are being taken for 4th quarter delivery to demonstration sites.
