The Insight System® Advantage

RJG has created a new set of tools for process monitoring and control that are more advanced, yet simpler to use, than any other system on the market today. For years our customers have asked for a system that is simple to set-up, easy to understand and, just as importantly, provides a quick return on investment. Our engineers went to work on developing a system to meet those requirements. The advantage to monitoring and/or controlling your process is that it allows you to minimize inherent process variation that is common in molding facilities and allows you to produce repeatable parts of superior quality. By controlling the process and implementing part containment you guarantee that no bad parts ship to your customers.

A significant savings in regards to implementation and utilization costs are being recognized by customers who have implemented the Insight System®. These savings come from a dramatically reduced learning curve, which in turn simplifies the utilization of the system. Graph or data interpretation and sensor calibration have traditionally been high cost training dilemmas with comparable systems. The Insight System® has addressed these issues by creating built-in intelligence in our sensors and by creating internal programs that turn data into information. These features make the Insight System® easier to understand and use.

The trend in the industry is continually moving towards Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma. It used to be that only critical, tight tolerance jobs needed to be monitored and some percentage of reject parts were accepted as "normal", in the industry. Today, competition is tougher, customers are demanding better quality, and jobs need to be completed as efficiently as possible to be able to turn a profit. The Insight System® provides the tools to take control of the molding process and eliminate the element of chance, maximizing efficiency by producing:

• Higher quality parts, often in less time.

• Consistent parts, often of reduced weight.

• Less scrap, which translates into money saved on materials and time.

• Data that can be documented in the form of graphs, spreadsheets or reports.

• Containment strategies that ensure no bad parts get shipped to the customer.

The Insight System® provides more to the user than just data; it provides information relative to your process. A major benefit of this new system is that an engineering degree is no longer required to perform accurate process analysis. Your processors will be able to set-up and troubleshoot most problems on the plant floor. Setting up the Insight System® is much simpler than any other system on the market. Once the sensors are installed and the eDART™ is powered up, you only need to go through the initial set-up screens to begin collecting data. If a job needs to be moved to another machine, no reconfiguration is necessary, as long as there are no changes to the parameters of the job, the system remembers the configurations and the job can be duplicated in the new location. RJG's Lynx™ sensors transfer the information from the machine to the eDART™. The system identifies the sensors by their serial number when they get plugged into the network. The sensors store their original calibration date, so the user knows when to send them in for re-calibration. A single unit can accommodate up to 60 sensor inputs.

The Insight System® has a faster sample rate, and allows the user to view their process in real time. The system interprets the data for the user so that he immediately knows when a problem occurs and what the problem is. Failsafe part containment allows "suspect" parts to be segregated from "good parts", ensuring bad parts never ship to the customer. It's proven that shipping one bad part to a customer has the same effect as shipping a whole truckload. With so many molders in the industry, customers can easily find another facility that will give them the satisfaction they demand. By implementing the Insight System® you can ensure your customer receives only quality parts.

You can network the Insight System® through all or part of your facility, or use the system on individual machines. A fully networked facility allows users to view all the networked machines from any PC on the network. Adding another machine to the network is as easy as connecting an eDART™ to the machine and letting the existing eDART's™ transfer all pertinent information to the new eDART™ through a distributed file structure. An eDART™ equipped with a modem and phone line, allows RJG's customer support team to access your system to troubleshoot problems remotely. All access can be password protected to keep your network secure.

The key advantages of the Insight System® are:

• Digital smart sensors

• Simplified graphical analysis

• Minimal set-up time

• A dramatically reduced learning curve

• Part containment to ensure no bad parts ship to the customer

• Faster sample rates, allowing for real time operation

• A powerful, failsafe operating system

• Single unit or networking ability

• The cost of quality is minimized
