Portable UV Inspection Kit Finds Flaws in the Field

Westbury, New York - The Spectroline® AP-400 UltraWandā„¢ ultraviolet inspection kit features a super-slim UV probe that lights up areas where larger lamps cannot reach. It was designed for detecting critical indications in field locations, and is especially useful in tight places, such as small-diameter pipes, turbine engines and other machinery—without disassembling the equipment!

The 4-watt UV probe measures only 1 inch (2.5 cm) in diameter and is just 6 inches (15 cm) long. It delivers a typical peak 365nm UV intensity of 5,500 µW/cm² at the light source and over 1,500 µW/cm² at one inch. The probe provides more than 40 hours of inspection time on eight "D" cell alkaline batteries (not included). This lamp meets or exceeds ASTM and MIL standards for FPI and MPI.

In addition to the probe, the AP-400 UltraWand kit has everything needed for field inspections: a 10-foot (3 m) power cord, a 10-foot extension cord, an adjustable mirror and a spare 4-watt tube, all conveniently contained in a tough polyethylene carrying case. The entire kit, with batteries, weighs only 6¼ pounds (2.8 kg).
